Levi Thorne
Levi Thorne is a Yamatji man and Project Officer with extensive experience in youth work, men’s health promotion, and community-based participatory research. His work is grounded in cultural knowledge and a commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal men and boys in Western Australia's Midwest region. Through the Midwest Aboriginal Men’s Empowerment (MAME) Project, Levi supports initiatives addressing Family and Domestic Violence (FDV), with a focus on role-modelling respectful relationships, promoting gender equality, and enhancing FDV understanding among First Nations males. His contributions include community consultation, program co-design, and culturally informed project delivery.
Levi is a recipient of the 2024 UWA Vice Chancellor’s Award for Aboriginal Led Research (Team Category), recognising his leadership and collaborative contributions to Indigenous research and community impact
