Eugene Moore National Men's Health Gathering 2025

Eugene Moore

Suicide prevention has been at the heart of everything I've done professionally since 1990. The contexts and forms in which this effort has taken place have been many and varied, but they all stem from my own lived experience, which has made all the difference. Those contexts have included the development and provision of training, throughout the NZDF, ADF, NZ Police, NZ Customs Service, and religious institutions, high schools and universities among others. My current role as Student Advocacy and Support Officer at a major Australian university, brings a constant stream of highly distressed and at-risk students into my office, all of whom are facing problems that can seem to them completely overwhelming, putting their futures at risk. I currently sit on the Lived Experience Panel of Suicide Prevention Australia.
