James Wild is the CEO of Men’s Sheds of WA, the peak body representing over 180 Men’s Sheds across Western Australia. Since taking on the role in 2019, James has been central to shaping the organisation’s strategic direction, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Men’s Sheds movement across the State. Alongside this role, James serves as a board director for other community and not-for-profit organisations, where he contributes significant expertise in community development, mental health, wellbeing, and measuring impact. James has extensive experience in strategic leadership and has held senior positions in local and state government, including at Lotterywest and Healthway, where he played a pivotal role in developing innovative grant-making and community initiatives. Before moving to WA, he was a managed one of the UK's largest town centres and was a founding director of a UK-based organisation dedicated to improving mental health and re-engaging people in meaningful employment, education and training. This international perspective has enriched his approach to community health and wellbeing in Western Australia. A consistent theme throughout James’s career is his commitment to empowering local communities to build connections, share knowledge, and support each other. He is passionate about creating spaces where people feel valued, heard, and able to contribute meaningfully. His approach emphasises collaboration, shared purpose, and practical solutions that build resilience at the grassroots level. James’s dedication to improving people’s lives through mental health and wellbeing support, combined with his strategic vision and deep community engagement, positions him as a respected leader in the not-for-profit sector. His insights into health promotion, organisational leadership, and sustainable community development make him a valuable contributor to discussions on strengthening community wellbeing and resilience.
