Evolutionary Mismatch: The Root Cause of the Men’s Health Crisis  (129834)

Jason Bluett 1
  1. Primal Man Project, Teneriffe, QLD, Australia

How modern environments conflict with male evolutionary design, and what that means for health, meaning, and belonging.

Despite living in one of the most prosperous societies in history, why are men disengaged, disconnected, and declining?

This session introduces evolutionary mismatch as the unifying framework for understanding the decline in men’s well-being.

Evolutionary mismatch describes the gap between the conditions men evolved to thrive in and the realities of modern life. This gap underpins the breakdowns we see across physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection, and sense of purpose.

Drawing on research from evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and a decade in men's personal development, Jason Bluett will explore how mismatched environments erode male resilience, identity, and motivation — and why many well-intentioned interventions fail to gain lasting traction.

The presentation will introduce the Primal Alignment Model, a practical, evidence-based approach for realigning men with the challenges, contribution roles, and social structures they are built for.

Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the root cause of men's decline, and practical ways to adapt services, programs, and communities to work with male design rather than against it.
