SOLiD MEN is a grassroots men’s health charity operating in NSW, committed to promoting holistic wellbeing among men through free, peer-led outdoor workouts and community fellowship. Established by some friends Nik and Suaia in 2017, SOLiD MEN has grown into a thriving program promoting physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental health with an inclusive, strengths-based approach that empowers men of all ages and backgrounds to excel together.

Our weekly sessions blend group exercise—focused on bodyweight fitness and cardio—with opportunities for open conversation and support, underpinned by core values such as courage, resilience, accountability, and peer leadership. Each session is led by different participants, promoting leadership, trust, and deeper connections among men. Beyond fitness, SOLiD MEN fosters spiritual growth through the integration of scriptural themes and reflective practice.  Our core foundations are built on our Christian beliefs and this is a critical part of our organisation.

Key achievements include:

Consistent weekly turnout for group workouts, demonstrating strong engagement from men across diverse backgrounds and age groups

Partnerships and grant support from community stakeholders (e.g., Penrith Panthers Club), bolstering our capacity to provide resources and expand reach

A clear focus on preventive health, relational accountability, and building social capital to reduce the risk of isolation, poor mental health and physical health

SOLiD MEN’s approach aligns with the National Men’s Health Gathering’s goals of innovation and best practice in men’s wellbeing by:

Offering a sustainable, community-driven alternative that addresses men’s reluctance to seek help in traditional health settings

Providing a supportive environment where men can develop healthy habits, build strong friendships, and access informal mental health support

Encouraging leadership, resilience, and positive masculinity through practical activity and open, judgment-free dialogue

Our vision is to see SOLiD MEN replicated in other communities, in particular building alliances with local churches seeking support to grow healthy male ministries.  Participation in the 2025 Mens Health Gathering would help further our reach and provide opportunities to connect with like-minded mens organisations.
